Welcome to St. Bernard School!
Dear SBS Students and Families,
It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I introduce myself, Aaron De Loera, as the new Principal at Saint Bernard School. I am thrilled at the opportunity that has been granted to me to become a part of this wonderful faith-filled community. I have been an educator and taken on leadership roles for the past 14 years. I have worked with a variety of private and public schools including my most recent administrative experience at St. Anthony of Padua in the city of Gardena. I served as an Assistant Principal to our K-8th school for three years. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in Political Science and received my Single Subject Teaching Credential from Vanguard University. I then received my Masters in Education degree with an emphasis in Instructional Leadership from the University of Mount St. Mary in Los Angeles. I myself come from a Catholic family, and I’m the youngest of 15 children. I am happily married to my wife, Kristine for the past eight years, and we currently reside in Orange County. In my spare time, I like to read, travel, go to the movies, hike, golf, and be around family and friends.
From my experiences as an administrator and educator, I have seen the challenges that many of our students face not only in the classroom, but also outside in the community. I believe that if we are to help transform the lives of our students, we must transform the whole being. This begins with a solid team and partnership between parents/guardians, administrators, and teachers. Catholic education is unique as it offers the opportunity to educate our students with the foundation of Truth, which is the love that our Lord Jesus Christ has for us. Helping students understand this in its truest form will help them have a stronger faith, succeed in their academics, and become responsible adults as they realize that God is calling them to greatness.
As a school, we will continue to offer high-quality instruction and a rigorous curriculum to challenge our students and prepare them for 21st-century careers. I will work closely with our faculty, teaming up with them to constantly analyze student data to drive our instruction. Our faculty will have access to professional development trainings year-round to help them grow in their practice. I will also be in constant communication with our teachers to offer feedback and provide solutions when needed. I look forward to developing a strong partnership with all of you parents/guardians so that we may become a team, and your child may know that they will be challenged to be better but that they also have the support of us all.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve your families in this role as the new SBS Principal. As I always ask of my family: Please pray for me as I will surely be praying for you! May God bless all of you.
Aaron De Loera, M.Ed., Principal
