Dear Parents and Guardians,
This past Sunday we celebrated the Second Sunday in Ordinary time and our Gospel reading was that of the Wedding in Cana. This is a popular reading for weddings in our Church and a perfect example of how our Blessed Mother Mary is always in tune to what is going on in our lives. It is she that notices that the wine is running out and that it would be a humiliating, heartbreaking occasion if it actually did. It is she that tells the servants to “do whatever He tells you” and by doing so the wedding is rejuvenated and lifecould have its proper form back. It is the same with us as soon as we allow God at the center of our lives things become restored and life takes on its full color. We pray that we have the grace to “do whatever He tells us”.
Thank you, parents, for coming out in the rain to the Parent Meeting this past Wednesday. It is always great to see everyone together at one time and to share with all of you the great things that are happening here at our school. God is blessing us for sure! We will have our final Parent meeting on May 8thto recount the year and prepare for the 2019-2020!
Thank you to everyone that picked up their chocolate boxes on Friday and today Tuesday. It’s still not too late! Please stop by the office to pick up your chocolates and help our school raise funds! Remember 50% of total sales will go directly into your fundraising requirement. Thank you in advance for your great efforts!
Vision to Learn stopped by today to complete their initial eye screening for our students. All students who qualified will receive a pair of reading glasses at no cost to the parents. Yay! I also wanted to share that the operators of Vision to Learn said that they were so amazed at how well our students behaved and that it was such a pleasure for them to come to a school like ours. What great news and testament to our families!
Please remember that our music program Arts Alive will begin on February 1. Arts Alive is offering Musical Theatre, Introduction to Keyboard, Keyboard 2, Ukulele and Beginning Guitar. Please see the handout in the Yellow Folder for more details or call the office. Our yearly theatre production will also start in February (different from Arts Alive) so look out for their flyer! This is a great opportunity for your child to be in an actual theatre production and share his/her talents with the rest of the community. We will need volunteers to help supervise, so please check out School speak for the signups.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges or WASC will be visiting our school in February in what it is called a Mid Cycle One day visit. Three years ago, WASC granted a six-year accreditation (common for well-functioning schools) to our school and part of that accreditation is for them to come and see how our school functions midway through the cycle. They will check in with our teachers, staff and administration. They may offer some recommendations and things to improve on, which we gladly welcome. We are proud to host our visitors and look forward to showing them the great things that are happening here at our school. I’ll update you as we get closer to the date.
