Welcome to the Eighth Grade Home Page!
My name is Mrs. Maria Vitale-Hassel. I am blessed to have been a part of St. Bernard School since the 2000-2001 school year. I have a true love for reading, and I feel most fortunate to be the Language Arts teacher for 6th-8th grade. As the 8th grade homeroom teacher, I am able to enjoy teaching other subjects such as Religion, and various electives, including Art. After earning my BA with a major in English at CSUDH, I furthered my education at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, and earned my MA in education, along with a California State Teaching Credential.
I enjoy spending my free time with my family and friends. I have been an avid reader since the age of 4 or 5, (before Kindergarten) and I have been in my current book club for over ten years. When I am not teaching or reading, I can usually be found in the kitchen cooking and doing my weekly food prep, or in front of my TV binge watching something on Netflix or Hulu. I also enjoy traveling, going to the movies, dining out, and I especially love going to the theater to watch live performances.
