At St. Bernard School, we are committed to helping every student reach their full potential. Teachers are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:15–4:00 p.m. to provide additional academic support for students who would benefit from targeted intervention or Tier 2 instruction.
During these sessions, teachers work with students in small groups or individually to strengthen foundational skills, reinforce classroom learning, and build confidence. Parents will be notified if their child is recommended to participate, and attendance is encouraged to support continued academic growth and success.

What is Tier 2 Support?
Tier 2 support is additional instruction provided to students who need extra practice or targeted help in a specific academic skill, such as reading or math. It is designed for students who may need more support than they receive during regular classroom instruction but do not require special education services.
At St. Bernard School, Tier 2 instruction is provided in small groups or individually by the classroom teacher. Lessons focus on specific skills, progress is monitored regularly, and instruction is adjusted to help students build confidence and succeed. The goal is to provide timely support so students can continue to thrive in the classroom.

Academic intervention is targeted, short-term instruction designed to help students who are struggling with specific academic skills. The purpose of the intervention is to identify learning gaps early and provide additional support so students can be successful in the classroom.
Intervention may include small-group or one-on-one instruction, extra practice, and specialized teaching strategies in areas such as reading, writing, or mathematics. Student progress is monitored regularly, and instruction is adjusted based on individual needs.

Title I Academic Support
St. Bernard School partners with the local public school district to provide Title I academic support for eligible students who need additional assistance in reading and mathematics.
Title I services are provided through a push-in model, where a credentialed intervention teacher works with students during the regular school day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This allows students to receive targeted instruction while remaining engaged in their classroom learning.
Eligibility for Title I services is determined by federal guidelines. Students must:

- Be identified by the school as needing additional academic support based on educational assessments and classroom performance.
