School Uniform

Philosophy of the School Uniform:

At St. Bernard School, the uniform is more than a dress code; it reflects our Catholic values and our commitment to creating a positive learning environment.

Our uniform policy:
  • Encourages students to be recognized for their character, virtues, and achievements rather than their appearance.
  • Places the focus on learning instead of fashion.
  • Reduces peer pressure and social stigma related to clothing.
  • Promotes equality among students regardless of economic background.
  • Creates a sense of unity and pride within our school community.
  • Provides a consistent standard that can be fairly enforced for all students.
  • Helps reduce long-term clothing expenses for families.
  • Enhances campus safety by making visitors and unauthorized individuals easier to identify.
  • Strengthens school spirit and a sense of belonging.
  • Simplifies daily routines for students and families.

General Uniform Expectations:

The St. Bernard School dress code is designed to foster modesty, good grooming, respect, and personal responsibility. A neat and appropriate appearance contributes to a positive academic environment where students can focus on developing their God-given gifts and building strong Christian character.

Students are expected to arrive at school each day clean, neat, and wearing the complete approved school uniform.
Parents are responsible for ensuring their child arrives at school in proper uniform each day.

General expectations include:
  • Uniform clothing must be clean, in good condition, and free of holes, tears, or stains.
  • Clothing should fit appropriately and be proportionate to the student's body size. Clothing that is excessively tight, oversized, or improperly fitted is not permitted.
  • Tattoos, whether permanent or temporary, are not permitted.
  • Fingernails must be clean, neatly trimmed, and maintained in a manner appropriate for school.
  • To assist with lost-and-found items, families should clearly label all uniforms, sweaters, jackets, lunch boxes, and other personal belongings with the student's name.
By wearing the school uniform with pride and respect, students demonstrate their commitment to the values of St. Bernard School and contribute to a community centered on faith, excellence, and service.
